Australian Embassy, Tokyo (Public Diplomacy)

This month, Australians are actively taking in part in artist-in-residencies programs in Japan. Two Melbourne artists are currently conducting a residency in Tokamachi city, Niigata prefecture and another artist from Darwin will participate in the Mokuhanga Innovation Laboratory Artist-in-Residence in Yamanashi. We hope you will have the chance to meet with these artists and enjoy their artwork during their stay in Japan.

Animal Kingdom: The Movie

The film explores the tense battle between a criminal family and the police, and the ordinary lives caught in the middle. Echigo-Tsumari Australian Artist-in-Residence Program 2012 begins

30 January 2012

Melbourne-based artists Jeremy Bakker, and Ross Coulter, and curator Angela Pye, arrived in Japan to participate in the Echigo-Tsumari Artist-in-Residence Program 2012. They will conduct a one-month residency in Tokamachi City in preparation for the Snow Art Project to be held on 25 and 26 February.

Australia House website renewed

14 February 2012

The website of Australia House at Echigo-Tsumari has been relaunched. You can find information on the Australia House reconstruction project and Brook Andrew, the Australian artist who will participate in the 2012 Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale (29 July-17 September 2012). The diary pages of the Australian artists currently conducting a residence in Echigo-Tsumari will be regularly updated as well.

Directors from around the world are invited to enter films shot on digital cameras in the "Feature Length Competition" of this annual competition. Films must be 70 minutes or longer and must have been made after 1 January 2011. More
